Why the fuck not?

Link to an unbelievable story.

Human rights groups are raising alarms over a new law passed by the Iranian parliament that would require the country's Jews and Christians to wear coloured badges to identify them and other religious minorities as non-Muslims.

Because that's always a good idea.

Fear not, though, I'm sure if things start really looking bad (after the first two hundred thousand or so of my Christian, Jewish and other non-Islamic friends are murdered) the U.N. will pass some piss-shit two-bit "mandate" backed by their limp dick policy of jacking off while people die and screaming like pansy-face socialists in French accents while watching women get machete'd on television and their maids and house-servants cook their dinners for them while people are starved to death by their oppressive "president" and enjoying their afternoon tea and nasty biscuits while reading stories of this fucking lunatic in Iran waving around samples of enriched nuclear fuel and waiting for the United States of America to step up, attempt to solve the problem single-handedly and foot the goddamned bill for injecting about $100 billion worth of Sense™, Sanity™ and Stability™ into the world where it seems to be lacking... and then if we're lucky they'll pretend we're the terrorists and organize millions of people to march in the streets to combat "the American war for oil" oblivious to the fact that nobody was marching (or giving a shit in any way) when they heard about some other fucking lunatic murdering a hundred thousand Kurds in the mid-80s in the first place. Because, you know, I wear a fucking red stripe on my clothes here in the United States of America because the NSA wire-taps Islamofascists that make tons of calls to Qatar and Saudi Arabia to known members of terrorist organizations. Got it. Again: why the fuck not? It's about par for the course.

Take home message?

We need to do something here. (Besides watch this shit blow up.)

While the situation is pretty abhorrent, at some point you've got to admit that the USA has got to back off and stop policing the world and let it, if it so desires, fuck itself up.

I honestly think there is very little to be gained in basically governing the entire world, regardless of what we think of policy in other nations. The more we focus on other places, the more we are going to end up ignoring our own nation. Sound familar to some empires of the past?

I think it's easy to say what you're saying, being a resident of the best country mankind has yet produced this side of eternity. (Well, it ranks up there.)

If you were born in Uganda, and saw your daughter raped and taken away in the night to be made a slave in the Lord's Resistance Army, you probably wouldn't espouse the "well, sometimes things get fucked up but those who are able shouldn't really get involved" model of foreign policy.

At any rate, the reason I posted this wasn't to encourage anybody to invade anybody. It was just marking how unbelievably stupid this completely whacked out leader of Iran is.

Well, it is also easy to say we should rid the world of all its problems when you aren't the politician at the helm or the armed forces on the field ;).

Face it, one nation cannot save the entire world of its problems. A collective of nations is sucking pretty hard at it too. Unless you want to see the nation you espouse so much fall by its own hands (which is entirely possible if it fails to recognize its own problems as it attempts to correct what it feels is everyone else's), you'll realize that sometimes you do have to be selfish in this world.

As for the Iranian leader...I think he graduated from the Kim Jong il school of thought.

Remember how Dr. Clarke was fond of saying the Kim Jong Junior was just going through the motions of tough-talk to respect his father? I wonder about that sometimes. It doesn't seem like he's backed off any.

Hmm, good point. Had forgot about Dr. Clarke saying that.
