Abortion counter

Yeah, so that little flash doohickey that counts abortions...

I really like it.

Correction - it's useful - of course I hate what it represents.

When I added it to the sidebar, it was under 57 million. The counter I was using now says 59.2 million.

Ah, but time marches on - and either 2 million completely morally-neutral surgeries have taken place or 2 million small children have been killed. It's all about perspective, and what you personally decide you believe. (No, I'd never be comfortable pushing my beliefs about 2 million child non-incidents and/or child killings on anyone. Only a maniacal religious zealot would do that.) Unfortunately, some of the earliest of that 3 million-strong number aren't able to be reached for their opinion. But as I said - it's all about perspective, right? Oh, and power to enforce your perspective.

Yes, kind reader - I digress.

Anyhow, when I added the HTML code to display it, I copy/pasted it from 1way2god.net. I'm happy they made it available, but I'm not sure what I think about everything posted on their website, so I'm removing the link to their site, so as to somewhat distance myself from them.

Just thought I'd let it be known - since people may have in the past clicked over there and then thought I was endorsing their website.

And right now I'm going to switch it now to show total number of abortions worldwide since 2001.

If you're interested to know, or flabbergasted at the number, the data comes from a 1999 report from Planned-Parenthood/Guttmacher Institute and from the CDC and the UN's World Health Organization.

I'll finish this post off with some Creedence Clearwater Revival:
Long as I remember, the rain's been comin' down
Clouds of mystery pourin' confusion on the ground
Good men through the ages, tryin' to find the sun
And I wonder, still I wonder, who'll stop the rain.

I went down to Virginia, seekin' shelter from the storm
Caught up in the fable, I watched the tower grow
Five year plans and new deals, wrapped in golden chains
And I wonder, still I wonder who'll stop the rain.

Heard the singers playin', how we cheered for more.
The crowd had rushed together, tryin' to keep warm.
Still the rain kept pourin', fallin' on my ears.
And I wonder, still I wonder who'll stop the rain.

Your use of the term "maniacal reluigious zealot" must apply to a lot of people. I believe that every state in the union has a law against murder, as does the federal government, as do most countries of the world... That is to say that you and I will probably be punished to some degree by governmental authorites anywhere in the world if we go killing innocent people. But --this fits your description, right? It's all a matter of perspective. Who were we to judge the Nazis in 1944? Why did we go to war to push *our* beliefs about the sanctity of human life on a whole other country, who had made it legal to kill the jews? Is every WWII veteran a "maniacal religious zealot?" We can make a long list here: Abraham Lincoln, John Kennedy, MLK jr... I think society wants to say that a murderer is the one who "pushes" his beliefs (about the lack of any importance in human life) to the degree of maniacal relgious zealotry... Fortunately, for you and I, our society affords itself the power to enforce this perspective --except, of course, if you might upset some people by being born...

I agree with the fat guy. We need to kill more unborn babies so we can celebrate when it gets to 1 billion.

Actually, sounds like a good slogan for Planned Parenthood: "Planned Parent, over 20,000,000 million unborn babies killed." Has a nice ring to it. I think you get a free order of fries with your third baby killing.
